Head of FP&A Interim NEW

Cedar is currently partnered with a unique Financial Services organisation to help them secure an Interim Head of FP&A.

The role will take ownership of the FP&A function, act as a strategic business partner across the organisation and help drive the continued development of planning, analysis and decision support.

This is a 12-month contract based in Central London, paying £700-£800 per day.

This is a Financial Services organisation operating in a complex stakeholder environment, with a clear social purpose alongside its commercial and operational objectives.

The business has developed significantly in recent years and continues to invest in its people, processes and analytical capability. Its work has a broader societal impact, giving the organisation a clear sense of purpose beyond financial performance.

The successful candidate will join at an important stage, with scope to improve how FP&A supports the wider organisation and senior decision-making from its Central London base.

The Role

As Interim Head of FP&A, you will lead budgeting, forecasting, planning and performance analysis, while acting as a senior strategic business partner across the organisation.

A major focus will be improving how FP&A operates, with particular emphasis on automation, continuous improvement and providing more proactive, decision-focused insight.

Key responsibilities include:

• Own and lead budgeting, forecasting and longer-term financial planning.
• Act as a strategic business partner to senior stakeholders, providing challenge, insight and commercial support.
• Lead financial modelling, scenario analysis and forward-looking planning.
• Improve and automate variance analysis and wider FP&A processes.
• Translate financial and operational information into clear, actionable insight.
• Improve the quality and consistency of management information and performance analysis.
• Drive continuous improvement across FP&A tools, processes and outputs.
• Coach and develop the FP&A team towards greater consistency, proactivity and ownership.

Your Profile

You will ideally have:

• A formal accountancy qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
• Strong Head of FP&A or senior FP&A leadership experience.
• Clear ownership of budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
• Significant strategic business-partnering experience with senior stakeholders.
• Advanced financial modelling and scenario-analysis capability.
• Demonstrable experience improving or automating FP&A processes, particularly variance analysis.
• Strong team leadership and coaching experience.
• A track record of driving continuous improvement within FP&A.
• The ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on when required.
• Prior Financial Services experience would be useful but is not essential.

Compensation & Benefits

This 12-month Interim Head of FP&A role pays £700-£800 per day.

The role is based in Central London, with one day per week in the office.
