Fractional CFO Interim NEW

Cedar is currently partnered with a high-growth, VC-backed SaaS business to help them secure a Fractional CFO. This role reports directly to the CEO and Board, working closely with investors, and will require 2-3 days per week over a 6-12 month assignment. It is outside IR35, paying £800-£1,200 per day, with flexibility to travel as required.

With expansion planned into new markets, increased investor engagement, and potential M&A activity, the company is seeking a commercially astute finance leader to help shape its next phase of development.

The Role
As Fractional CFO, you will partner closely with the CEO, founders, and investors to strengthen the finance function, drive strategic decision-making, and ensure the business is investor-ready for its next stage of growth.

• Optimise the company’s capital position to support growth plans, including preparation for convertible loan notes or equity fundraising.
• Lead international expansion finance workstreams, including accounting, banking, tax, and payroll setup in new territories.
• Build and embed robust cashflow forecasting, budgeting, and financial modelling processes.
• Enhance operational KPIs, SaaS metrics, management information, and Board reporting.
• Drive cost optimisation initiatives to remove inefficient spend and improve margins.
• Strengthen governance, processes, policies, and controls to ensure scalability.
• Support M&A strategy and execution, from due diligence to post-deal integration.
• Lead data room preparation and investor engagement for fundraising or potential exit processes.

Your Profile
You will ideally have:

• A proven track record as a CFO or senior finance leader within SaaS businesses, ideally scaling from £2-£20M turnover.
• Significant experience in VC or PE-backed environments with fast growth trajectories.
• Deep understanding of SaaS metrics, growth levers, and investor requirements.
• Strong international expansion experience, including operational and financial setup in new markets.
• Demonstrated ability to work closely with entrepreneurial founders in a hands-on and strategic capacity.
• A formal accountancy qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CA) is strongly preferred.
