Financial Controller Interim

Cedar is currently partnered with a highly successful Asset Manager to secure an Interim Financial Controller based in Central London. The role is a 3-6-month initial contract, paying a day rate between £450-550 per day, (outside IR35).

The Company

This business is highly successful in their specialised area. They operate a multiple-billion AUM fund specialising in illiquid real estate assets, and non-performing loan portfolios. They have grown from strength to strength in recent years, entering into multiple territories. They currently operate a pan-European fund and are experiencing significant growth.

The Role

As Interim Financial Controller, you will cover:

• Serve as the primary liaison for the Finance Director (FD) and CFO, ensuring smooth communication and coordination with senior financial leadership.
• Work with the Finance Director to restructure and streamline the operations and finance department, driving automation and implementing procedures that improve integration with the parent company.
• Lead the financial audit process for all entities within the group.
• Manage the quarterly valuations process across the portfolio.
• Design, evaluate, and refine comprehensive business plans.
• Oversee performance attribution and gross-to-net reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Direct core accounting functions, including the preparation of quarterly management accounts and annual financial statements.
• Supervise accounting processes for subsidiaries with non-performing loan portfolios.
• Mentor and develop junior team members to support their professional growth.
• Oversee VAT and corporation tax processes, coordinating with third-party providers.
• Build strong working relationships within the finance team and with asset management, analysis, and underwriting teams.
• Prepare and present financial information for board meetings, including the creation of detailed board packs.

Your Profile

You will ideally have:

• A formal accountancy qualification (e.g. ACA/CIMA/CA)·
• Prior experience in an interim / contract role would be beneficial but not necessary.
• The rate of £450-550 per day (outside IR35) represents a fair value, or logical increase on your previous salary or day rate.
• Experience working with non-performing loan portfolios, private credit, or similar asset class.
