Group Accountant Interim NEW

Intro

A leading London property and investment group is seeking a qualified Group Accountant on a 12-month fixed-term contract to support its Group Finance team during a period of change. This is a broad, hands-on role covering quarterly consolidations, IFRS financial statements, management accounts and shareholder reporting, alongside process and control improvements around recently implemented finance technology.

The Company

A major owner, developer and operator of large-scale commercial and mixed-use property. The group has a complex structure and works across central Group Finance, Treasury, Investments and segment accounting teams. Following recent investment in finance technology, the business is focused on embedding stronger processes and controls while improving reporting through standardisation, automation and better use of data.

The Role

The Group Accountant will play a central role in delivering accurate, timely and well-controlled Group reporting, while working closely with senior finance colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing quarterly consolidated financial statements, management accounts and shareholder reporting at ultimate group and subgroup level, including disclosure notes and front-half narrative
• Delivering the Group consolidation process, including preparing, posting and monitoring consolidation entries within Yardi
• Producing clear reconciliations and consolidated schedules while improving efficiency and process consistency
• Supporting analytical outputs and presentation materials for senior management, including the CFO and Group Financial Controller
• Working with segment accounting teams, Treasury and Investments throughout the financial reporting close
• Preparing technical accounting and policy papers on complex matters under IFRS and UK GAAP
• Supporting the external audit through effective project management and timely resolution of audit queries
• Helping to build and embed processes and controls around recently implemented finance technology
• Identifying opportunities to improve reporting and financial control through automation, digital tools and appropriate use of AI-enabled solutions
• Supporting wider Group Finance projects as required

Your Profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified, with relevant experience preparing Group financial statements
• Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP, with consolidations experience essential
• Confident preparing reconciliations, investigating differences and resolving complex accounting issues
• Strong Excel and data analysis skills, with examples of improving reporting or increasing process efficiency
• Some exposure to finance process improvement, systems implementation or technology-enabled change would be advantageous
• Able to build effective relationships across finance and communicate clearly with stakeholders at different levels
• Comfortable taking ownership of detailed work across several priorities in a deadline-driven Group Finance environment
• Experience using Yardi or another Group consolidation system would be useful but is not essential

Compensation & Benefits

This is a 12-month full-time fixed-term contract based in Canary Wharf. It offers broad exposure across Group reporting, technical accounting, consolidation and finance transformation within a complex, high-profile organisation. The role offers a pro rata salary of up to £65K depending on experience.
