A national public sector programme is seeking an experienced Finance Analyst to support the delivery of projects on an interim basis.

The role sits within a small, collaborative finance function and would suit someone who thrives in a fast paced environment, is highly organised, and confident working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

The Role

The Interim Finance Analyst will play a key role in maintaining financial governance, supporting monthly reporting cycles, and ensuring accurate financial transactions and documentation across a complex programme.

You will support with month end, reconciliations and reporting, while acting as a key point of contact for suppliers and central finance teams. Strong attention to detail, confidence with financial systems, and the ability to work with minimal supervision are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Support monthly reporting including transaction reviews, journal postings and preparation of financial information for programme boards
• Assist with year end activities and budget reconciliation
• Reconcile supplier invoices, maintain audit-ready documentation and manage financial filing systems
• Maintain monthly reconciliations and track outstanding payments
• Process invoices, orders and receipts using financial systems (full training provided)
• Resolve invoice and payment queries in collaboration with procurement, suppliers and accounts payable
• Raise and validate invoices to regional partner organisations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with schedules and milestones
• Monitor orders and maintain records, acting as first point of contact for order-related queries
• Recommend process improvements and support efficiency initiatives
• Provide guidance to project teams on financial procedures and best practice

Essential experience

• CCAB Qualified, with at least 2 years post-qualification experience
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in finance roles within public sector organisations
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
• Experience of reconciliations and month end processes
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
• The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
