Interim Procurement Governance Manager Interim NEW

Cedar are supporting a Local Authority, based in the Midlands, who are looking to hire an Interim Procurement Governance Manager on a contract that will run until 31^st March 2026 (high potential to extend). This role will operate INSIDE IR35, offering a Day Rate up to £500. This role will operate on a Hybrid Working arrangement with the requirement to be on-site 2 days per week. The client is looking for someone to start ASAP however given the time of year it’s likely that the role will commence early January 2026.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the council meets its constitutional and statutory obligations, supporting decision making and the councils democratic procedures, maintaining transparency, assurance oversight. The role will lead the creation of clear standard requirements and considerations for informed decision making – create toolkits, templates, and schedules that align with wider Council and Committee governance structures. Through delivering training, build capability and confidence across the organisation, ensuring staff understand their responsibilities and the standards expected to support decision making. The role will take ownership of ensuring FOI’s, monthly Councillor Questions and CPS questions / actions from Committee meetings are recorded, tracked and responded to meet required deadlines and to professional standards.

Candidates applying MUST HAVE:

• experience working in a similar role in Local Government in the UK
• strong background and understanding of Procurement systems, procedures and reporting requirements
• strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• understanding of PCR2015 and PA23 is required
