Project Manager Interim

Cedar are looking for an experienced Contract Project Manager to oversee a data platform discovery phase delivered by a major technology partner. The role acts as the critical link between business stakeholders and the delivery vendor, ensuring the proposed Azure or Microsoft Fabric build aligns with organisational needs and is delivered with clarity, quality, and accountability.

The role is initially a fractional position (3 days) outside IR35, and offers flexible working (1 day in the London office).

This position is reporting into the CFO and is a key hire during the initial build phase. There is scope for the role to develop into a long-term engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the intermediary between business teams and the delivery partner during discovery
• Challenge technical assumptions, solution designs, architecture choices, and timelines
• Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications
• Support review of proposed Azure or Fabric architectures and data models
• Manage project governance, risks, dependencies, and vendor deliverable
• Provide structured oversight, documentation, and reporting to senior stakeholders

Essential qualities

• Experience managing projects involving data platforms, Azure, Fabric, or cloud environments
• Sufficient technical understanding to question architects, vendors, and solution proposals
• Confidence to challenge suppliers when designs or assumptions will not work
• Strong communication skills to translate technical decisions for non-technical stakeholders
• Proven ability to act as the conduit between business teams and external delivery partners

Highly desirable experience

• Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric
• Experience working on data warehouses or modern data platforms
• Experience partnering with systems integrators or external delivery vendors
• Background in assurance, risk oversight, or reviewing solution designs
