Interim Finance Manager Interim

Cedar is partnered with a private equity backed technical services group to appoint an Interim Finance Manager. The role is based in the Greater Glasgow region with one day per week onsite. This is a 3 to 6 month assignment, paying £450 to £525 per day (Outside IR35).

The organisation delivers a range of specialist technical solutions to commercial and industrial clients across the UK. It operates through several business units and is in the midst of strengthening its finance capabilities following investment. The group is focusing on tighter financial control, more consistent reporting, and better visibility of performance across its service lines. The environment is collaborative, change oriented and well suited to someone who can bring added structure, clarity and pace.

The Role

As Interim Finance Manager, you will report to the Head of Finance and work as a true all-rounder across both core accounting and commercial analysis. You will own month end, support ongoing process improvement, and contribute to planning cycles. Responsibilities include:

• Leading the month end close, including journals, reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reviews
• Preparing accurate management accounts with clear explanations of performance drivers
• Ensuring consistency and accuracy of financial data across multiple service lines and cost centres
• Working with operational and commercial managers to review spend, variances and financial implications of activity levels
• Supporting revenue and cost recognition processes and ensuring appropriate controls are applied
• Producing weekly and monthly reporting packs, KPIs and commentary
• Contributing to budgeting and forecasting cycles, including analysis of risks, opportunities and trends
• Providing focused analysis on margins, cost movements and operational performance
• Inputting into cashflow forecasting and short term liquidity reviews
• Strengthening controls, improving financial processes and helping standardise reporting where needed
• Supporting ad hoc project work linked to data, reporting, commercial insight and operational decision support
• Acting as a stable, reliable contact point for internal stakeholders and external advisors

Your Profile

The ideal candidate will bring:

• Strong experience across accounting, month end, and management reporting
• A recognised qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
• Experience in a multi-entity or multi-site environment, ideally with operational complexity
• Comfort switching between hands-on accounting and commercial analysis
• Strong attention to detail alongside clear analytical capability
• Ability to communicate simply and effectively with non-finance stakeholders
• Good systems and data capability, with ease navigating evolving processes
• A practical approach suited to environments going through improvement and standardisation
