Management Accountant

Salary: up to £55,000

Location: Central London

Hybrid (2 days per week in the office)
Reports to: Finance Director

About the opportunity

Cedar is working with a fast scaling, purpose led media and events business expanding across content, live experiences, publishing and commercial partnerships. The finance function is being built in house for the first time, creating a rare opportunity for someone to step in, take ownership and help shape how it operates from day one.

We are looking for a proactive, switched on and ambitious Management Accountant who wants real responsibility and the chance to grow with a high performing team.

The role

This is a hands on Management Accountant role within a small, high-energy team. You will take ownership of core finance processes and play a key role in building strong financial controls, reporting and operational discipline.

This role is ideal for a part qualified accountant who wants breadth, autonomy and clear progression in a fast-moving business.

Key responsibilities

Month end close

• Journals including accruals and prepayments
• Balance sheet and bank reconciliations
• Month end reporting packs

VAT and compliance

• VAT returns in Xero
• Support year end processes with external accountants
• Maintain strong controls and audit ready records

Finance operations

• Maintain accurate financial data in Xero
• Manage cash position and payment processes
• Oversee supplier data and finance administration

Projects and improvements

• Support Finance Director on ad hoc work
• Improve processes, systems and reporting

Accounts Payable and Receivable

• Full ownership of AP and AR
• Supplier and customer onboarding
• Invoice processing and coding
• Weekly payment runs
• Credit control and cash collection

What we are looking for

• Part qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA (essential)
• Proven accounting experience in a hands-on role
• Strong experience with Xero and Excel
• Confident across AP, AR, journals, reconciliations and VAT
• High attention to detail and strong ownership mindset
• Proactive, curious and comfortable taking responsibility
• Thrives in a fast paced, collaborative environment
