Role: Transactional Payroll Officer

Reporting to: Transactional Payroll Lead

Salary: up to £16.90 per hour

Location: Newham, Havering (Hybrid)

Start date: 10th April

Length of Contract: 3 Months

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver day to day payroll processes operation to all staff.

  • Provide a payroll support service to the full range of Council departments, pensioners and Members. To calculate allowances and deductions due from input supplied and deal with queries in person, on the telephone and in writing.

  • Administer and co-ordinate input on a range of procedures which include processing sickness records/ entitlements, resignations, statutory Leave, etc

  • Liaise with HMRC, DWP and any other external organisations completing relevant paperwork and request when required

  • Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge on relevant statutory and regulatory legislation, policies, procedures and employee pay terms and conditions.

  • Provide service delivery, advice and support in a cost effective, efficient and solutions focused way that ensures customer satisfaction and positively impacts customer efficiency and confidence.

  • Contribute to and or support projects and initiatives, proactively identifying opportunities to improve service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Required Skills:

  • Previous end-to-end Payroll experience

  • Ability to work with high volume and in fast paced manner

  • Experience of using Microsoft Office software suite, Fusion HCM system, and other desktop IT applications including spreadsheet functions.

  • Ability to meet client deadlines, demonstrate flexibility and strong time management skills are essential.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team.

  • Strong attention to detail
