Engagement: 2-3 days per week (Fractional)

Duration: 12-13 weeks, with potential extension

Day Rate: £600-£650 per day (DOE)

The Opportunity

I’m supporting a client undergoing a key data platform discovery phase and looking for an experienced Contract Project Manager who can sit between the business and an external technology partner.

This role requires someone who can interrogate technical proposals, translate requirements clearly, and bring structure, governance, and challenge to a strategically important discovery period.

What You’ll Do

• Act as the key interface between business stakeholders and the delivery partner.
• Ensure proposed technical solutions align with business goals.
• Challenge assumptions, architecture recommendations, and delivery plans.
• Translate business needs into crisp, actionable technical specifications.
• Support assessment of Azure / Microsoft Fabric architecture and data model options.
• Oversee timelines, risks, dependencies, and vendor deliverable.
• Provide structured governance, assurance, and clear reporting to senior stakeholders.

What You’ll Bring

• Strong project management experience within data platform environments.
• Hands-on exposure to Azure and/or Microsoft Fabric.
• Ability to operate as a technical intermediary between C-Suite and vendor teams.
• Confidence in challenging designs and interrogating solution proposals.
• Clear communication skills – translating tech to business and vice versa.
• Demonstrable experience managing third-party vendors and driving accountability.
• Background in similar data-focused PM roles is advantageous.

Engagement Details

• Fractional contract: 2-3 days per week (potential to move to 5 days following discovery)
• 12-13 week initial term aligned to the discovery phase.
• Extension possible for strong performers.
• High-calibre individual required due to the strategic nature of the work.
