Based in Central London this is a unique opportunity to join a rapidly growing Investment group with total revenues more than £100 million. It has rapidly grown over the last five years and as a result is looking to hire a data driven, technically strong Financial Controller to head up the Finance of the business.

This is an exciting opportunity to bring the finance department in-house and build a brand new reporting structure and commercial finance department that will enable this business to grow. With the opportunity for the role to develop into a FD/CFO and an extremely generous LTIP scheme including a generous bonus this will suit an ambitious accountant looking to further their career.

The Role

As the financial controller will be responsible to structure and professionalise the internal accounting processes, manage finance projects and implement best practice. You will manage the finance operation effectively and efficiently and be accountable for the full range of financial-related activities, including stock, financial management, analysis, reconciliations, and payments. You will manage the finance operation effectively and efficiently and be responsible for the development of the finance function whilst at the same time managing the day-to-day transaction processing.

You will establish and maintain robust financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems for effective corporate governance, statutory compliance and to maximise return on financial assets.

Role responsibilities

  • Day to day operation of the accounting and finance operation. Investigate, report, and resolve discrepancies and queries.
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, periodic reports, and analysis on a scheduled or unprompted basis.
  • Ensure payroll information is accurate and prompt.
  • Support outsourced bookkeeping function by responding to queries and providing documentation as required
  • Develop and operate a robust purchase ledger system, managing invoice approval, credit terms with suppliers, cash flow and payments.
  • Coordinate the year-end audit with external auditors and aid in preparing audit schedules, data, and information.
  • Support, challenge and drive financial value through analysis and advice.
  • Support the month-end and year-end financial close.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting, including broker and sales reports.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Ensure strong corporate governance practices, following all accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Fully ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified
  • Qualifications - degree / accounting qualifications
  • Expert knowledge of excel.
  • Experience implementing and enforcing best practice financial management processes
  • Commercially savvy, numerically sound with solid analytical skills
  • Have a 'can do' approach and is tenacious.
  • Ability to work under pressure and cope with changing priorities.
  • A team player who can work on their own initiative
  • A confident communicator, both verbal and written
  • Good time-management and planning skills.
