I am exclusively partnered with a leading international transportation group who are looking to hire a Finance Manager in a newly created position. This is an exciting new role that could suit a recently qualified accountant out of practice looking for their first move into industry.
General Description:
The Finance Manager role will have responsibility for key and core aspects of the treasury, tax, control and compliance activities of the finance team for the group. This role reports to the Head of Finance.
In addition to day to day activities, the candidate will be expected to be actively involved with senior management and peer colleagues on the debate and investigative analysis of improving company performance, leading and supporting the drive to identify and implement, controls new initiatives and actions across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, coach and develop a team of 3 within the wider finance function
- Responsible for the day-to-day treasury function, across all the UK Group, ensure tight fiscal controls on payments, receipts and all banking matters
- Responsible for a rigorous and accurate Short Term Cashflow Forecasting for the UK Group, ensuring funding needs and requirements are accurate and communicated in a timely manner
- Improve, strengthen and redefine the controls environment, with new policy, procedures and governance
- Conduct business wide internal audits to assess and ensure adequacy of controls and compliance
- Act as liaison with Group Audit on internal controls and support the CFO as Compliance Referent to the parent Company
- Direct liaison and support with the CFO on Capital Funding and Financing, new / renewal of lease contract financing including lessor selection, real-estate financing and funding and areas of new business development
- Ensuring accuracy of operating lease cost accounting under IFRS16, including related reconciliations
- Responsible for VAT submissions and related process including liaison with HMRC for the UK Group and working closely with external advisors to ensure VAT best practice
- Responsible for the Corporation Tax compliance, external and internal reporting
- Oversight on employment taxes and in conjunction with the Payroll function ensure accuracy and completeness of tax calculations, provisions, reporting (internal and external), submission deadlines, documentations and adherence to legislation
- Support on the Statutory Financial Statements compliance, through all phases from preparation to audit management through to finalisation and Board sign-off
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
Required:
- Qualified ACA accountant with 2+ years post qualification experience who is ambitious and keen to develop their career in industry
- Strong technical knowledge / background and keen to maintain and higha high level of technical accounting knowledge, FRS and IFRS expertise
- Experience of working with ERP / accounting and related support systems
- Proficient analytical skills and high levels of attention to detail
- Strong tax compliance and practical accounting knowledge, experience and desire
- Aptitude and gravitas to challenge the status quo, to initiate and lead cross-finance / business improvements, the ability to bring people on a journey of change and deliver desired results / outcomes through and with other colleagues
- Previous experience and ability of working with cross-functional teams to lead / support the development of new finance and business initiatives
- Knowledge of day-to-day finance and accounting processes, operations, activities, controls and reporting in a multi-legal entity environment
- Motivated by continuous improvement and a strong team influencer to drive best practices across the department
