Cedar are working exclusively with a government health organisation who are looking to hire driven and ambitious Commodity Buyers to join their team. This role will work closely with the Procurement/Commercial Business Partners within medical supplies to ensure the department delivers an effective and efficient procurement service to the business and it's unique stakeholders. Must be a clear communicator and a confident negotiator with proven experience of buying bulk supplies at negotiated prices, whilst managing demand and supply chain fluctuation. Ideally you will have public sector procurement experience however, this is not essential. Previous experience in a demanding commodity buying role is required, along with managing multiple projects/stakeholders in this area simultaneously, negotiating frequently to ensure the best price is obtained on a weekly/monthly basis according to market trends.
Key areas will be;
- Strong negotiator within commodity, medical supplies or similar
- Proven experience of procurement within the Public Sector - OJEU/PCR 15/Frameworks - not essential
- Commercial acumen and a clear understanding of procurement/supplier contracts
- Stakeholder engagement across a range of commodities
- Must have gravitas along with energy and drive
- Acting as a procurement advisor and trusted partner to internal customers
- Managing suppliers in line with organisational policy
- Ensuring compliance in all areas of procurement activity/buying
- Ability to interact and influence stakeholders within various internal/external business units
- MCIPS qualified - desirable
Must be able to go into the office 2/3 days per week - East London
