Our client is a leading retail organisation based in the North. This role will report directly into the Head of Category for Professional Services and will take full ownership of the commercial and sourcing strategy for the category with a revenue and capital expenditure ranging from £10 to £50m.
- Demonstrate robust commercial insight to shape clear, impactful category plans that carefully balance cost, quality, and risk.
- Execute these category plans independently, employing strategic sourcing methodologies that culminate in superior commercial and operational outcomes, encompassing cost and working capital enhancements.
- Lead cross-functional teams in implementing business transformations with a considerate yet resolute approach.
- Skillfully navigate challenging discussions and negotiations with crucial suppliers and senior stakeholders alike.
- Serve as a vital business collaborator to stakeholders, proactively challenging and supporting as deemed appropriate.
- Act as the ultimate point of resolution for business concerns, actively overseeing supplier risk and operational performance when necessary.
- Cultivate constructive, mutually beneficial bonds with key suppliers, unveiling prospects and novel ideas.
- Contribute significantly to the overall success of the Department, setting an example for fellow team members.
- Flexible engagement in projects spanning diverse categories as needed, thereby enabling Procurement to concentrate on the areas of utmost value.
- Experience in Procurement or relevant commercial capacities ideally for a FTSE 250 or a large, corporate organisation.
- Solid tactical and operational prowess underpinned by sharp commercial acumen.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical acuity.
- Confident negotiation skills, coupled with a background in contract law.
- Exceptional organizational and project management capabilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication aptitude, influencing up to Senior Manager levels.
